Beaches and Bananas

This weekend we finally made it to the beach for the first time this year!  It has been very hot every day (highs in the mid 90s since I returned from out west) so the water was perfect for swimming.  We enjoyed a relaxing day in the sun and only got a little sunburnt.

 

We also enjoyed a picnic lunch that included cucumbers and watermelon from the garden.

 

After the beach we headed into town to watch the Savannah Bananas baseball team play the Blowfish.  Great Dane sponsored the outing so we wore our matching t-shirts and sat with Matthew's coworkers.  The Bananas are very entertaining with audience games between each half inning.  They also won, which made it more exciting!

Our Grand Adventure: Fourteenth Stop

Mow and I's final stop on our Grand Adventure was back at my parents' house in TN.  We rested there three nights and two days before returning to Georgia.  Mom and I did go for a short ride one of the days to complete the circle of riding!

Our Grand Adventure: Thirteenth Stop

Our last camping stop was at Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky.  We were running low on energy and ambition so we only stayed here one night.

 

The campsites were littered with manure and old hay but did have power (yay for AC!).  Corrals are not allowed so we used picket lines for the horses.

 

Mom and I got up early the next morning for a short ride before heading back to their house.  By nine o'clock it was so hot that both horses were drenched in sweat.  We decided that we would all be happier heading out early rather than staying the extra day as we had originally planned.

 

The trails were nice - well-maintained and easily marked - but were a little boring compared to what we had already seen this trip!
