Yesterday we were finally able to finish birthday celebrations with a cake smash for the girls. There was some delay due to travelling and illness, but here are the beautiful cakes that our friend Victoria made special for us!
The "Before" photo of our cute little set up. I made the onesies, banner, and colored poofs. Victoria made the cakes and took the photographs. Leonie is on the left.
It took a few seconds for the girls to realize that they were allowed to explore the cakes and they both reached for the frosting at the same time.
Unfortunately, something about the cake scared Leonie and she promptly had a meltdown. Elsie isn't sure what all the fuss is about!
Once we saved Leonie from the cake Elsie went back to business.
Cake smashing is serious business!
She certainly made a mess, haha.
And eventually graduated to pushing the plate around the blanket. I don't know how much frosting actually went in her mouth but lots ended up on her body and clothes!
This perfect photo sums up the experience quite well. Poor Leonie.
While Elsie was getting cleaned up Leonie did explore the banner so we snuck the cake back onto the blanket. We couldn't fool her for long as you can see in this photo, she's about to burst into tears again.
These photos are great - poor Elsie! I suspect she won't be scared of birthday cake for too many more birthdays!
